Literature Text
just a mask of rust on dead man's steel
she was like a storm
silenced by her own thunder
a lullaby
lost in the hum of summer flies
a comet
swallowed willingly
by her mother Sun
so afraid of her own terrible
Light
that she rather turned to dust
pretending
to be nothing more
than a sigh of silver
ash
dying silently
behind a mask of rust on dead man's steel
she was like a storm
silenced by her own thunder
a lullaby
lost in the hum of summer flies
a comet
swallowed willingly
by her mother Sun
so afraid of her own terrible
Light
that she rather turned to dust
pretending
to be nothing more
than a sigh of silver
ash
dying silently
behind a mask of rust on dead man's steel

The staccato-like diction of this poem is exceptionally well-played, as is the lineation. As for the matters of length and simplicity in the piece? I think everything that was trying to be expressed was, in fact, expressed. Less is sometimes more and I believe this to be one of those cases.
